I have been hard at work on my book. Yes, it’s been two years and counting but I am really feeling I am nearing the end. I have put it off as often as possible. Feeling like an imposter. Not good enough. But I have decided and realized there is no harm in trying, no harm in pursuing.

Here is a little excerpt of what I have been working on.

Present
“Before replying, Thomas let one arrow fly, hitting the injured soldier in the shoulder. Before she could tell him to stop, he had another ready. “You fool,” Ember scathed.

She grabbed the bow from him. Taking another arrow she aimed and struck the soldier right in the neck, the one spot she knew was a death sentence. Handing the quiver back to the bow she cursed under her breath.

“What we have started, they will come and finish. Now not only are you and I in danger. But everyone here.” Ember said hastily. She did not want to be the reason for so many deaths.

“Don’t you understand? He does not see us. We are one. They will not return because King Aleron does not want a civil war. We outnumber his army 20 to 1. When you throw everyone into the slums and make living there better than fighting in the army, we become powerful. He even lost you. If you do not think we all have known who you were since you’ve been here, you are wrong. But since you were dishonorably discharged, we know you are not one of them anymore.”
