Book Excerpt:

“Do you believe in ghosts?” He shook his head yes which surprised me. “Growing up I never liked hearing ghost stories. I didn’t think an entity could go around scaring people. But the memory of my father haunts the castle walls. Sometimes after dinner as I head up the great hall stairs to my room I swear I can hear him say ‘Good night my sweet Tins, meet me in the apple orchard.’ When I was little I was afraid of the dark, at night my dad and I would talk about where we would meet. The apple orchard was where we’d always go. As I grew I stopped asking him to meet me in the orchard but he never stopped. When I sit on the hill I swear I can hear him say ‘My father and I planted this tree when my mother died. Whenever I sit beneath the falling petals I can still hear her talking to me. Close your eyes and listen.’ When I was little I thought I could hear her speaking but as I grew the voice faded into wind. When I sit beneath it now though I can hear my father telling me the story and I hear her voice again.”

Tuni sat quietly listening to me intently. “Maybe ghosts aren’t these spirits scaring people like you thought. I believe that when a person repeats something with love, that loop can stay and repeat itself an infinite amount of times, even once that person is gone. That loving energy generated between two people stays. It just needs one other person to sit and listen to it.”
