Death whispered

Death whispered in my ear “I am drawing near. I am drawing near.” I ran fast, so fast and so far.  I changed my hair, I changed my lifestyle. Still death drew near. Whispered low, almost a growl “you cannot leave me behind. Not me. I cannot be fooled.” I held my breathe, I shaved my head, my body grew more and more tired. Time it passed, it passed by so slow. I worried, worried, all the time. When is it that death will catch me? Not much life to live always waiting. I cocoon in. Leaving behind others. Others who made me life. Others whom my body missed. My body got tired, I got tired. I wished for death. Death came softly, slowly, tapped on my shoulder. “I am here old friend. Here I am. Come with me. Leave it all behind.” As I closed my eyes and walked with death I realized that death is always drawing near, close to us, a whisper away. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t dance, we shouldn’t sing, we shouldn’t love.
